Hi, I'm Susan and welcome to YOGA for Children!

I am a qualified children's yoga teacher, accredited by the Yoga Alliance Professionals and an affiliate for Relax Kids. I teach children from 2-11 years old, with First aid training, fully insured and enhanced DBS checked.

I am passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga with children. Yoga for children not only helps relax the body and busy mind but also builds confidence, resilience, strength, flexibility, focus, self-respect, and body awareness. Yoga gives children a ‘toolbox’ to dip into when they need a moment to reflect or help empower them to believe in themselves.

Each of my classes begins with a yoga welcome, followed by few warmup exercises for the body and to focus the mind, then we explore a story adventure all set to yoga poses. Some popular adventures are a trip to the farm, visiting a magical forest, playing at the seaside and superhero's week, the possibilities are endless! There are fun activities including, yoga games, teaming up for “partner” yoga, memory games, learning breathing techniques, positive affirmations, and age-appropriate mindfulness and stories.

Personally, I have been practising yoga for over 20 years, and through my classes I have seen first-hand the benefits of yoga in the children I teach with their progression, confidence building, enjoyment, and enthusiasm for yoga!

I have a young daughter who loves to show me how supple she is and It's  a joy to see her quietly practicing some mindful breathing techniques, without a prompt too! If we teach through example we can learn so much. 

I truly believe if we give our children the tools to understand their feelings and how to recognise and support those feelings it will create a generation of children equipped to transition through the ebb and flow of their lives and others.
